Research and Innovation Department


 

 

Introduction

The Research and Innovation Department in ELTC is dedicated to enhance ELT practices amongst teachers through research studies. In order to develop the culture of research amongst teachers the department offers Action Research for primary and secondary ELT teachers. In addition to this the department conducts school based research that aims to provide findings that can inform the progress and effectiveness of programs run by the Ministry of Education. To this aim, the department has conducted a number of research studies in areas of KSSR, SBA and ELT Performance in schools. The department hopes to be able to impact teaching practices through providing credible and quality data in the area of ELT.

  • To provide consultancy services on research in management, trainer training and teaching and learning in the ESL context
  • To inculcate a research culture among English language teachers, teacher trainers and managers

  • To publish and disseminate ELT research publications

    I am currently the Head of Research and Development Department, English Language Teaching Centre (ELTC), Ministry of Education Malaysia where I train in-service English Language Teachers in Malaysia. My research interests include adult education, multicultural education, English literacy, socio-cultural studies and narrative inquiry.

    Dr. Anne Malar Selvaraj is an Academic Lecturer at the English Language Teaching Centre, Ministry of Education in Malaysia. She earned a PhD in assessment and evaluation in English Language Studies from The National University, Malaysia. Currently, she is the Head of Unit in the Research and Innovation for the department. She has designed teaching modules, teaching materials, ELT courses and professional development workshops targeting the in-service teachers in Malaysia. She has experience as a classroom teacher, a national examiner for the Malaysia Examination Board (LPM) and a curriculum mo

ACADEMIC PAPER CONSULTATION SERVICE

(ACAPCS)

  • Welcome

Academic Paper Consultation Service (ACAPCS) is a center specially designed to meet the needs of ELTC staff as well as the ESL teachers in working on their academic papers.  It offers flexible modes of consultation that are most useful to writers in seeking an ongoing support or consultation in order to improve their academic piece.   Our sessions focus on principles of composition and strategies to enable writers to independently improve their writings rather than “correcting” them. ACAPCS welcomes ELTC Staff and ESL teachers to drop by at the Centre or to give us a call to find out how we can help you.

ACAPCS is dedicated to providing FREE accessible services that help ELTC Academic and Non-Academic Staff to achieve their personal, academic, and professional goals in academic writing in a confidential and caring environment.

ACAPCS provides support to writers who are working on their:

  • Graduate Coursework (e.g.: lit reviews, seminar papers)
  • Conference Abstracts
  • Research Article Manuscripts

Our consultants/advisors will assist writers through collaborative discussions to generate productive writing habits to improve the writing and critical thinking abilities among writers.
