Vision

A leader in primary English Language teaching methodology and literacy

 

Mission

To promote the development of primary English Language teaching and learning through quality training support and research

 

Objectives

Ø  To design and develop curricula for teaching literacy, methodology and English Language teaching and learning courses in primary schools

Ø  To design and develop programmes related to the teaching of English to children at primary level

Ø  To conduct research into the teaching of English in primary schools which will inform and enhance the practice of professionals involved in the area

Ø  To promote teacher professional development across multi-cultural contexts through engagement in a continuous cycle of training and feedback

Ø  To offer consultancy services in English Language Literacy and ELT programmes at primary level

Ø  To develop English Language literacy centre in collaboration with community-based education centres

    Profile
    I have seventeen years of teaching experience in both primary and secondary schools in Malaysia. I have presented papers at many international conferences and published several journal articles. Two of my papers were published in the international scorpus. I am interested in literacy, multi literacy, multicultural studies, assessment in language and improving learning among indigenous children.

    Profile
    I began my teaching career in a secondary school in 1999 and later went to the Penang Marticulation College. My ardent desire to improve the level of English among students has led me to manoeuvre my career path towards becoming a teacher-trainer. Appointed as Guru Cemerlang in 2009, I started giving courses and training to teachers at various levels as required; and later aggrandized my efforts when I became an SISC+ in 2014. Now, I hope to stretch even further towards fulfilling my goal, driven by the vision and mission statements of ELTC.

    I am a dedicated, ambitious and goal-driven educator with 22 years of progressive experience in school. I enjoy reading and believe that the knowledge and perspective of reading has strengthened my teaching skills and presentation abilities. I believe in effective communication and being resourceful in order to enhance students’ performance, promising to shape a better world for the students and empower them with knowledge. I want to motivate teachers to bring creativity and effective communication into their classrooms.

    Profile
    I began my career in education as an English teacher in 2012. Living by the principle of ‘It takes a big heart to help shape minds’, I then proceed to serve in the fast-paced, rewarding environment of ELTC after five years of teaching in secondary school. Passionate in education, I am motivated to be someone who is able to train others or at least help them to be better in what they do. My areas of interest is sociolinguistics and second language acquisition.
